ONLY a handful of games survived the weekend weather but glimpses of quality shone through the clouds in the West Lancashire Football League.

Two matches took place in the Premier Division kicking off with Blackpool Wren Rovers suffering a home defeat to fellow Lancashire side Slyne-with-Hest.

It finished 2-1 to the away team after a thrilling finish.

Liam Breslen scored for Slyne on 55 minutes before Blackpool's Ollie Crolla levelled the score ten minutes later with a well-times strike.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until Callum Moore proved himself a hero with a fantastic goal in the 92nd minute to take all three points home for his team.

This result will prove significant as Blackpool are one place above Slyne, second in the league.

There is now only a nine point gap between the two sides and Slyne have three games in hand.

Elsewhere, Vickerstown beat Euxton Villa 2-0 at home.

A Dave Round strike on 15 minutes followed by a Sam Patterson penalty on 72 minutes sealed the deal for eighth placed Vickerstown, who now have ten points between them and fifth placed Euxton.

In Division One, Fulwood Amateurs hammered Dalton United 6-0.

Three strikes from Mitch Newsham on five, 54 and 62 minutes put the game beyond Dalton before Mark Wane and Brad Fox completed the rout.

Wyre Villa played out a thriller against Ambleside United.

The South Lakeland side lost 4-3 after drawing level on 75 minutes thanks to a Sam Benson goal.

Phil Smith broke Ambleside hearts with his 82 minute goal to take the points back to Wyre.

In Division Two it was much the same story with only two games taking place.

Stoneclough stuffed Croston Sports 5-2, which was a scalp for the home team, currently residing in tenth place and ten points behind their defeated adversaries.

Four goals from Joe McCann, including a first half hat trick, secured victory.

Two late goals from Phil Conce and Matthew Masterson were to little too late for Croston Sports.

Lowly Walney Island lost 3-0 at home to Millom thanks to two goals from Carl Waters and one from Chris Wood.

The only game to survive the elements in the Division One Reserves League was Hurst Green Reserve's 2-0 away win against Euxton Villa's Reserves.
