MILNTHORPE Corinthians' first team manager Richard Close has stepped down after just over two seasons in charge.

During his first season the club finished third and last season lifted the Invitation Trophy and finished runners up in the Northern Counties Championship Final.

"Richard parts company with us on friendly and amicable terms and we all wish him well in the future," said club chairman Ian Hunt.

Former Kendal Town manager Steve Edmondson and Keith Singleton, a former Corinthians manager, will be at the helm on an interim basis.

The position will be advertised shortly and the club are hoping to make a permanent appointment very soon after.

The club wishes to thank Steve, Keith and reserves team manager Marcus Davidson for their hard work at short notice in preparing for today's fixtures.

The firsts are at home to Bolton County while the reserves are travelling to Lytham St Annes.
