MILNTHORPE Corinthians, under new management, romped home to victory in their first home match of the West Lancashire League Division Two campaign.

It was announced late Friday night that first team manager Richard Close had stepped down after just over two seasons in charge.

Former Kendal Town manager Steve Edmondson and Keith Singleton, a former Corinthians manager, were at the helm for the visit of Bolton County on Saturday.

The visitors took the led on 32 minutes through Liam Short but Peter Baxendale hit a hat-trick and Richard Sandham added another as Corinthians fought back to win the three points and move them up to fourth in the table.

Elsewhere in the division, a Matthew Clark double in the first ten minutes helped Kendal County to a narrow in over Stoneclough. County are now one point ahead in third.

In the Premier Division, Crooklands Casuals miserable start to the season continued with a 4-1 home loss to Hesketh Bank.

Crooklands started in positive fashion and played well in the first quarter. Dave Mansergh put them in the lead in the 12th minute converting a penalty for hand ball.

The game then took a major turn when Kevin Cox equalised - heralding a period of dominance by Hesketh Bank who increased their lead through Josh Roberts and John Stead.

Lewis Saunders made the result safe in the 81st minute before Cassies captain Mike Hargreaves was sent off.

In Division One, Andy Harvie hit a hat-trick as Poulton came away with the maximum points from Askam while GSK Ulverston Rangers played out a 2-2 draw with Mill Hill St Peters.
