AMBLESIDE United have won the Treble, beating Ladybridge after extra time.

Mike Barron got the winner five minutes into extra time with a curling right-foot effort to make it his 34th goal of the year after the sides were at a stalemate in normal time.

They are aiming to push on for promotion again next season when they are promoted to Division One of the West Lancashire Football League, manager Steve Edmondson told the Gazette.

Ambleside lost just their second game of the season on Saturday as tired legs set in from the four games they had to play last week to fulfill their fixtures.

All the goals in their 3-2 defeat away to Bolton County were scored in the first half. Rob Howarth and Tom Aspin gave the home side a two-goal cushion but United fought back through Mike Barron and a Rod Wilson penalty, but Benjamin Walmsley got the third goal to see off Ambleside.

Meanwhile, Kendal County signed their season off with a 1-1 draw at home to Todmorden Borough. Joe Baker scored for Kendal, and they finished third this season.
