A DRAMATIC penalty shootout saw Ibis dumped out of the Benevolent Trophy at the second round stage by Coniston.

Ibis found themselves 3-0 up in the second half with Cory Robinson, Luke Deveney and Darren Braithwaite on the scoresheet.

However Coniston fought back taking the game to extra time with both teams locked at 3-3. Coniston pulled 4-3 ahead in extra time before Callum Taylor sent the game to penalties scoring at the death.

In the shootout Coniston held their nerve and emerged 5-4 winners.

The other trophy games saw Kendal County Reserves progress following a 3-1 home win over Endmoor KGR thanks to goals from Dean Sill, Connor Walmsley and an Oli Wilson penalty. Endmoor KGR were left to rue a lot of good second half chances with Matthew Wilson scoring the only consolation.

Elsewhere four goals from Neil Dean helped Appleby ease through with a 10-0 home success over Division Four side Pirelli. A brace from Jordan Crawford and goals from Thomas Armstrong, Ross Parkin, Dan Rob and David Nugent rounded off the comfortable victory for the Eden side.

Meanwhile a double from Brandon Robinson and an Andrew Lockhart strike helped Kendal United progress in a scrappy 3-1 win away at Lunesdale United.

Keswick also made it to the next round after a 6-1 win at Kirkoswald while Carvetti United are through after putting 11 past Greystoke. Unisun got a free passage into the next round after Ambleside United Reserves conceded the tie as they couldn’t field a team.

In The Bluefin Westmorland League, there was no game in Division One as Windermere and Penrith's game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Shap are up to fourth place in Division Two thanks to a 4-1 win at Braithwaite whilst Keswick Reserves eased to a 3-0 success at Kikrby Thore Rangers.

Meanwhile Wetheriggs United Reserves picked up a 3-2 home win over Langwathby United.

Division Three saw Dent put seven past Lunesdale United Reserves in a 7-2 victory whilst Kendal United Reserves defeated Appleby Reserves 3-2 thanks to a Joe Gordon brace and an Aiden Dent goal.

At Hollins Lane Burnesides Reserves drew 1-1 with ten men Windermere Reserves.

There were only two games in Division Four as Greystoke drew 3-3 with Penrith Saints and Penrith Academy drew 2-2 with Eamont Rovers.
