BRODY Wallace-Moffatt missed a late penalty as defending champions Kendal County crashed out to Keswick at the quarter-final stage of the Senior Challenge Cup.

Keswick centre-half Stuart Dowson scored the only goal of the game in the first half as the Fitz Park outfit emerged 1-0 victors.

Kendal's Luke Selby saw red on 50 minutes while Keswick keeper Lee Medding was a constant thorn in the side as Kendal searched desperately for an equaliser.

They were presented with a golden opportunity to restore parity when Keswick centre half Paul Hindmarch made a rash tackle to give away a spot-kick on 82 minutes.

Wallace-Moffatt stepped up and struck the penalty low but Meddings smothered the ball to keep Kendal at bay.

Appleby are also through to the semi-finals following a penalty shoot-out win over Cartmel and District.

Alex Johnson hit a hat-trick as Wetheriggs United booked their place in the semi-finals thanks to a 3-2 win over Kirkoswald.

Keswick will now face Wetheriggs Utd, whilst Appleby play Windermere on March 14.

Ibis progressed to the semi finals of the Mason and Freeman Cup after a 6-5 penalty shoot out win over Keswick Reserves.

Ibis dominated the first half going 1-0 in front through a Josh Ford penalty, however Keswick equalised midway through the second half taking the game to extra time.

The hosts then went 2-1 in front in extra time through a Jay Hayton effort which rebounded off the post and into the net before the visitors drew level taking the game to penalties.

Ibis converted all six of their penalties through Tim Blamire, Callum Taylor, Hayton, Ford, Luke Deveney and Mark Demonti before keeper Frank Bolton pulled off the crucial save to see them into the final four.

In the Bluefin Westmorland League Division One, Kendal County Reserves thrashed bottom side Ambleside United Reserves 4-0.

Sedbergh Wanderers battled back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Lunesdale United at Havera Park. Alex Fearn pulled one back before Aaron Siemazko struck with the last kick of the game for a point which keeps Sedbergh third in the league.

Endmoor KGR also booked a semi-final slot thanks to a 5-0 win over Coniston. A Matthew Wilson brace and goals from Jordan Kenny, Nathan Dixon and Ryan Carradus proved the difference.

Over in Division Two, Burneside go one point clear at the top thanks to a 3-0 win over Langwathby United. Michael Wilson, Cameron Mc Kay and Martin O'Sullivan were on the scoresheet.

In the Peter Daws Memorial Shield Dent progressed thanks to a 4-1 win over Windermere Reserves. Appleby Reserves are also through thanks to a 3-1 at Eden Thistle where Martin Lightburn, Martin Neymar and Andy Butt were on target.

Burneside Reserves also booked their place in the next round following a 2-0 win at Greystoke.
