KENDAL United lost ground at the top of Division One of the Westmorland Football League following a shock defeat to relegation threatened Lunesdale United on Tuesday night.

Lunesdale raced into a 2-0 lead through a Ryan Robinson brace and despite Danny Craig pulling a goal back for the hosts Robinson completed his hat trick with a clinical finish as Lunesdale went 3-1 up.

Kendal dominated the second half and despite being reduced to ten men Kyle Hansen pulled a goal back, however Lunesdale held on, as they made it two wins from two after they defeated Unisun Athletic 6-4 at the weekend.

In what was a rain affected weekend, Keswick dodged the weather as they progressed into the final of The High Sheriffs Cup after they defeated Sedbergh Wanderers 3-1Richard Bannister, Alfie West and Andy Rigg with the goals.

Keswick returned to league duties on Tuesday night and went three points clear at the top after whitewashing Wetheriggs United with an 8-0 win over Wetheriggs United.

Tom Atkinson bagged hat trick while both Richard Bannister and Andy Rigg scored two goals each before Declan Robinson completed the rout as Keswick moved towards the league title.

In the other midweek Division One games, a Jordan Crawford brace helped Appleby to a 3-1 win over Sedbergh Wanderers, while Ibis and Ambleside United drew 1-1.

Ibis went ahead through Cory Robinson before the visitors collected a share of the spoils with a last minute goal.

In Westmorland League Division Two, Wetheriggs United Reserves surged ten points clear at the top of the table after they defeated Braithwaite 3-1, while Carleton Banks edged Ambleside United Reserves 1-0.

Scott O’Callaghan scored a brace as Burneside won 3-2 at Staveley United on Monday night, Shap defeated Pirelli 4-3 and Endmoor KGR won their third straight game with a 4-2 triumph at Dent. Adam Soulby, James Garner, James Halton and Nico Noreci with the goals.

Ullswater United climbed up to fifth in Division Three as they defeated Penrith Saints 3-0 on Saturday while they stuck five past AFC Carlisle on Monday night.

Penrith Academy defeated Greystoke Reserves 3-0 at the weekend before putting seven past Burneside Reserves in a 7-4 win on Monday night.

Appleby Reserves defeated Ibis Reserves 6-0.

A Josh Addison Adams brace and strikes from Jack Overs, Lee Tumbell, Andrew Little and Liam Kinnear secured the win.Eden Thistle progressed into the final of The Peter Daws Memorial Shield after they knocked out AFC Carlisle in a 2-1 win.
