MILNTHORPE Corinthians battled into the semi finals of the County Cup after a dramatic 4-3 win at Westmorland League Division One side Kendal United.

The reigning cup holders almost threw away a 4-0 first half lead after Kendal mounted a stunning second half comeback before the Cors held on for the win.

Corinthians started the game well and were 2-0 up within the first ten minutes after goals by Jamie Hastings and Zach Clark.

The Cors continued to dominate while a Kendal United player was shown a red card by the referee before goals by Elliot Bousfield and Craig Edmondson saw Milnthorpe hold what seemed like an unassailable 4-0 lead at half time.

However the game changed in the second half after Kendal United battled back thanks to goals by Mark Barnes Davies, Danny Craig and Kyle Hansen.

Kendal continued to pile forward despite playing with ten men however Corinthians held on to progress into the next round,

In the other cup ties, Cartmel and District picked up a shock 1-0 home win over West Lancashire League division two side Kendal County while Keswick progressed after a comfortable 5-2 home win over Wetheriggs United.

The quarter final tie between Kirkoswald and Appleby was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In Westmorland League Division One Ibis picked a 4-3 win at Penrith Reserves, Cory Robinson scored a brace while Dan Postlethwaite and Brodie Nicholson were also on target.

Windermere continued their good run of form after a comprehensive 5-0 win at Kendal County Reserves, Burneside routed Ambleside United 4-1, while Pirelli won by the same score after they defeated Sedbergh Wanderers. Pirelli now up to second place in the table.

The top two battled it out in Westmorland League Division Two after second placed Endmoor KGR edged to a 3-2 win at league leaders Shap. KGR who are now just two points behind the leaders, claimed the win thanks to goals by Matthew Wilson, Nathan Dixon and Shane Lambert.

Kendal United Reserves edged to a 2-1 triumph at Ullswater United, Sam Hunter and Declan Wilkinson with the goals,Dent defeated Braithwaite 5-1, Greystoke picked a 4-1 win over Carleton Banks, Keswick Reserves battled to a 2-0 win at Windermere Reserves while Eden Thistle defeated Wetherigg United Reserves 3-2.

In Westmorland League Division Three, AFC Carlisle remained on top of the division after a narrow 3-2 win over Ambleside Town.

Appleby Reserves defeated Penrith Royal 3-1, Andrew Little,Jack Overs and Anthony Lund with the goals, Ibis Reserves and Endmoor KGR Reserves battled out a 2-2 draw. Ibis on the score sheet through Josh Ford and Jack Bates, before Endmoor replied thanks to Brandon Brett and Niko Noreci.

Burneside Reserves picked up a 4-1 win over Lunesdale United, while Penrith Town edged to a 2-1 victory over Kirkoswald Reserves.
