BURNESIDE followed up their unbeaten promotion run by winning the Mason and Freeman Second Division cup on May 2 at Staveley.

Burneside beat Ambleside Reserves 3 - 2 after a run of 15 straight wins, which the players have put down to a new kit which has been supplied to them by their former goalkeeper Scott Littlewood of Alpha Roofing Kendal since the beginning of their run.

League winners Ambleside took an early lead in the first half with a long throw into the box which bobbled about and was forced into the net.

Burneside bounced back straight away with goals from Shaun Gardner and Alec Hague to go into half time 2-1 up.

Ambleside controlled the early part of the second half and were rewarded with a second goal.

With the game in the balance and looking to go into extra time Burneside were rewarded with a penalty with two minutes to go.

Nathan McNeill stepped up and sent him the keeper the wrong way to secure victory for Burneside.
