Didsbury 1 Kendal 5

KENDAL Ladies travelled to Didsbury for a top of the table clash in North Women's West 2 on a very wet Saturday.

Kendal were still revelling in their previous week's goal fest and knew that this North Women's Division 2 West fixture would be tough.

A close-fought game with a lot of end-to-end play saw Didsbury try to deny Kendal any time on the ball, but the visitors began to take charge.

Halfway through the first half, a superb goal by skipper Martindale lifted the visitors and gave them the timely boost they needed.

Didsbury came back, however, to make Kendal work even harder and just before the half ended Kendal applied sufficient pressure to force some defensive errors, of which they took advantage.

After a series of shots on goal was saved, Andrea Elvey connected with a half-saved ball, and swept it back into the far corner to make it 2-0 at half time.

The wet weather continued to make it hard with players slipping and losing their footing. Didsbury to their credit replied with a goal, but Kendal continued to dominate and added a third goal from Emma Taggart.

Nicola Conway and Vicky Jones both got their names on the scoresheet with superb goals taking the tally to 5-1.

It gave Kendal earn a well-deserved victory, taking them to the top of the league.

There is a break from fixtures this weekend.
