Rugby - RFU top brass at Kirkby Lonsdale

SENIOR officials from the Rugby Football Union, including Chief Executive Francis Baron OBE and Management Board Chairman, Martyn Thomas, will be visiting Cumbria, and Kirkby Lonsdale in the south of the area, next weekend (October 17/October 19) to meet representatives of schools and clubs in the county, as well as having fact-finding discussions with county officials.

Orienteering - 85-year-old completes event

Kendal’s 85-year-old Maurice Collett, of South Ribble OC, completed both days of the M75 Short course at the October Odyssey Event close to Hadrian’s Wall, near Haltwhistle, on Saturday and on Bewick Moor, near Alnwick, on Sunday.

Football - Pitch inspection at Town

Tonight’s Unibond Premier League game between Kendal Town and Whitby Town is almost certain to go ahead as scheduled at 7.45. Town say there was to be a pitch inspection at 3pm but only as a precaution. A club official said: "The pitch is in a good nick and it’s almost certain the game will be played."
