ENGLAND LX (Over-60s hockey team) are reigning European and World Cup champions.
Their spritely forward Bill Warrender, who lives in Levens, organised a tour for them which included a Sunday fixture against Lakelanders - South Lakeland's veterans team.
England's controlled, precision hockey, with movement off the ball, opened up the Lakelanders' midfield, but they only led 1-0 at half time.
A good start to the second half from Lakelanders gained its reward when Mackenzie beat two defenders and rounded the keeper, Dave McCormack finishing the move with an acute-angled shot.
Fran Tidmarsh and Graham Munday played well in the heart of the team and Richard Belk set up many moves up the wing. However, England controlled possession, although Paul Hodgson worked hard to break down their passing game.
Lakelanders' concentration finally broke and they conceded three soft goals from short corners. England scored another on the final whistle to run out 5-1 winners.
