A STALWART of local sport, particularly Sunday League football, is remembered when the Brian Kitching Memorial Match takes place at the Lakeland Radio Stadium, Parkside Road, this Sunday.
Brian (pictured right), who passed away in the summer, was manager and a former player of Castle Rangers, who celebrate their 50th anniversary this season, and up to his death he ran the Sunday League almost single-handed. He was also involved in local cricket.
The match on Sunday kicks off at 12 noon and will be between a Kendal Sunday League XI and a Kendal Town Select XI.
It is hoped for a good turnout of spectators and any profit from the event will go towards a memorial bench for Brian on the Millennium Fields.
