AMBLESIDE-based rally driver Graham Gaskell and his co-driver Heather Grisedale from Grange over Sands will be reunited for the Tour of Hamsterley rally based in the County Durham forests next Sunday.
The pair last competed together a number of years ago but Heather’s duties on the organising committees of a number of rallies have limited the amount of events she has time to take part in.
Seven gruelling stages totalling 41 miles await the crew in their Gerald Davies Auto’s backed Vauxhall Nova which has undergone further modification since it was last used to good effect in March’s Malcolm Wilson Rally.
Full-length Kevlar floor trays have been added to the machine in an effort to protect the floor from the damage brought about by the forestry commission gravel tracks and reduce maintenance time.
In addition, the fitting of a new competition gearbox will give better ratios for hilly and twisty terrain.
