YOUNG Bradley Perie has captured the 80cc British Junior Road Race Championship.

Bradley, who is still only 11, enjoyed another amazing weekend at Llandow, South Wales, where he not only won all three races but wrapped up the British title.

In his first year of racing a full-size racing bike, Bradley, from Kendal, has won 17 out of 18 races held all over the country.

His father Andre said: “ As a rider he has matured so much by being able to recognise what’s going on with the bike while on track to help him find the right racing set-up.

“And he has been able to push himself and the machine to the limits without going over it...and his proven fitness, of course, has been paramount.”

Bradley has benefited from many supporters, including local ex-TT racer Bob Jackson, who has built and tuned the engine to perfection.

“His approach to engine building is clinical”, said Andre. “There’s no doubt that without Bob’s skill and knowledge Brad’s year could have been very difficult as we didn’t have one mechanical failure.”

As well as Bob’s involvement, his brother Andy of Jacksons Motorcycles, Endmoor, fitted Brad out with some of the best safety equipment available. Financial support has also come from Wayne Sanderson of Tall Ridge Roofing, Kendal, who is a passionate bike racing fan and has supported Brad since he was racing as a seven-year-old.

Ormrod Signs have made the bike’s livery look stunning.

Next year Brad makes the leap to 125cc racing on tracks such as Oulton Park and Brands Hatch, and he hopes to compete in the Superteens Championship, which is televised on British Eurosport and Motors TV.

Many top racers have come through this route, including Casey Stoner, the Moto GP Champion.

Andre said: “It’s top class racing and we already have a competitive bike, but we need to find sponsors to help with the tyre bill.”
