INGLETON classic racer Harley Rushton won his first ever race at the annual Bob McIntyre memorial classic race meeting at East Fortune near Edinburgh.

Saturday’s racing was cancelled after a few practice sessions due to horrendous weather conditions, meaning all the racing took place on Sunday.

Rushton got off to a steady start with sixth place aboard the Craven Honda in his first outing. In the next two races Rushton improved to fourth place as the track dried.

On the last race of the day he worked his way through the pack to gain a lead of just over a second on lap four which he held until the end of the race to claim his first victory.

“I can’t believe that I won this race,” said Rushton.

“It seemed to be the longest race all weekend - I never thought I was going to see the chequered flag.”
