The Olympic Torch arrives in the South Lakes this week - and here's our guide to when and where to see it as it passes though the region.

The Olympic Torch enters Cumbria through Eden at Brough then travels to Appleby before moving on to Penrith.

brough: Wednesday, June 20, 4.03pm – 4.07pm

STARTING on the B6276, it makes its way into the village along Main Street and Upper Street then into New Road.

STARTS on the A591 from Keswick, taking in Swan Lane (B5287), Grasmere Hall, Broadgate, Church Stile and Stock Lane to end at Dove Cottage on the A591.

ambleside: Thursday, June 21, 6.18pm – 6.46pm

STARTING on the A591 at the north end of town, the Olympic Torch will be carried along Rydal Road before turning into Lake Road, round Wansfell Road and on to Borrans Park (A5095) – where there will be a special greeting by children. (A5095).

From there it will process to Waterhead Pier, where it will board the Windermere Lake Cruises historic vessel, the Tern which will take it over the water to Bowness Bay (Time afloat - 6.56pm – 7.46pm).

bowness: Thursday,June 21, 7.46pm – 8.00pm

STARTING as the Olympic Torch leaves the ferry at Bowness Bay Pier, it will travel along The Promenade (A592) and on to The Glebe, where the evening celebrations will take place.

kendal: Friday, June 22, 8am – 9.14am

STARTING at Kendal Castle the Olympic Torch will move on to Castle Drive, then on to Parkside Road and into the one-way system at Kirkland. The torch will travel along Highgate (A6) on to Sandes Avenue, then Blackhall Road, round to New Road and then Aynam Road before finishing on Milnthorpe Road (A6).

milnthorpe: Friday, June 22, 9.26am – 9.35pm

STARTS on Princess Way (A6) and travels through the village into Church Street, ending on Beetham Road.

The torch will start at Scotland Road and travel along the A6, finishing in Lancaster Road.
