STUDENT Glen Robinson from Kendal has been selected for the Great Britain junior water polo squad.

Glen, aged 17, of Mintsfeet Road, played water polo with the Kendal club before moving to British champions Lancaster when he was selected for the England youth squad.

He maintained his progress to join England's junior squad and has just finished competing in the Home Nations competition in Newport, where England emerged undefeated winners, beating Ireland in the final.

Following his performance, he has been asked to join the Great Britain junior team who are set to travel to Calgary in Canada on Boxing Day for an international tournament.

The Canada tournament is the first of several competitions facing the GB Juniors, including the European qualifiers in May.

Glen says: "This is a great opportunity to represent my country and I hope I can continue to follow my dream of competing in the London Olympics in 2012."

Glen is studying sports science at Lancaster and Morecambe College.

Next year he hopes to move for the next five years to Manchester, where the water polo high-performance training centre is based.
