Brooklands Poynton 7 - 2 Kendal

KENDAL were on the end of a seven-goal drubbing by last year's champions Brooklands Poynton on Saturday.

Kendal started well but lost some structure and first conceded from a penalty corner after 14 minutes before a Brooklands counter-attack one minute later added a second.

A third before half-time and further goals on the counter attack in the second half condemned Kendal to their second defeat of the season.

"We just couldn’t find our positioning and kept getting caught on the counter attack," said goalkeeper Fiona Battersby. "We had some good linking play in the second half but still couldn’t get our positioning quite right and conceded further goals on the counter attack

"We finished the last 10 minutes of the game really well though and managed to claw two goals back . Some you win, some you learn from."

Kendal travel to Wakefield this Saturday in search of their first win of the season.

"We will train hard this week to work on our weaknesses and will enter the game with a positive, determined attitude," added Battersby.
