An Ingleton-based motorcycle road racer excelled at a national competition.

Harley Rushton, 20, came away with third place overall and a win in the biggest race of the season at the Classic Racing Motorcycle Clubs National Championships in Norfolk.

He started the weekend badly, damaging his bike in the first race.

But Harley battled through some tough conditions in heavy rain, fog and fading light secured third place in the Classic National 350 Twins Championship.

Harley saved his best for last and, in the 350 race of the year on Sunday, October 12, he lead from the start.

He fought off stiff competition from Bedfordshire's Olie Linsdell to claim victory in the failing light.

Speaking to the Gazette about his weekend 'of ups and downs', Harley said: "I am pleased with my race of the year win on the 350. I got away well and got a good lead early on. I was able to control this until the end of the race. I would like to thank Craven Concrete racing for giving me the opportunity to compete at such a high level all year and to prepare the bikes I have been racing and helping to secure third place in the 350 twins national championship. Without the help of my team which includes my Dad, Ted, Jon and Mike I wouldn't have been able to get back on track this weekend on the 500 and get such a strong finish in the ACU 500 race. I am looking forward to coming back even stronger for next year and can't wait for the 2015 racing season."
