KENDAL School of Gymnastics are used to their talented gymnasts winning trophies, medals and ribbons but this time it was the coaches who were the source of much celebration.
Head coach Chris Wrigley and one of Kendal’s top gymnasts and level two coach, Alice Bowler, were invited by British Gymnastics to attend the National Awards dinner.
Chris was shortlisted for the Services to Gymnastics in the community award and Alice for the Young Volunteer of the Year award.
The black-tie dinner was held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and was attended by many elite GB performers including Beth Tweddle, Max Whitlock and Kristoff Willerton.
The Kendal club was delighted to have two members on the shortlist given that the club is only small compared to others and clubs from all over the UK put forward nominations.
Chris won his award and was presented with it by Ray Phillips, former BG President and now Chair of the British Gymnastics Foundation., while Alice was runner up in her category.
