ULVERSTON Otters Diddy League team finished second in the Cumbria Grand final in Carlisle following hot on the heels of a stunning team performance in their annual Open Graded Meet.

The nine to 11-year-olds at the Diddy League Grand Final competed against swimmers from Barrow, Kendal, Carlisle, Penrith and Workington.

The Club’s Open Graded Meeting, held at Kendal’s Leisure Centre, saw swimmers drawn not only from all over Cumbria but from Carnforth, Lancaster, Preston and Fleetwood.

There were 200m Individual Bests from Anna Morrison and Nicola Capstick.

Capstick took the Gold Medal in her 11/12 year-old age group as did Rhiannon Ellis in the 14/15 year-old category. After that there were a host of medals for the young Ulverston team. There were three golds for Amelia Mardel, as well as a silver, while Amy Richardson also took three golds in the 16 and overs. Capstick then added a second gold as well as a silver to her haul.

Ellis also won her second gold whilst Indya Sharp claimed two gold, a silver and a bronze. More multiple medal success went to Patrick Cush, Shannon Parker, Tom Robinson, Rowan Bartlett and Joshua Turner.

The success did not end there as Niall Cush took gold, Bradley Fell a silver whilst Nathan Ritchie and Morrison both went home with a silver.

In total there were 103 personal best times as well as winning a grand total of 36 medals for the day.
