KENDAL swimmers do like to be beside the seaside as they claimed another medal haul in Blackpool.

A small squad travelled to Blackpool's Palatine Pool to compete in the Blackpool Lights Open Meet on November 15.

Scott Womack recorded the greatest success as he picked up four medals.

He started off by winning the silver medal in the 50 Breaststroke sprint but that was just for starters as he went on to dominate in other disciplines too - proving his all round talent.

In the pressure zone he made a powerful burst for the wall but was just touched out of the gold position.

Showing superb power and strength he won more success in the sprints taking the bronze medals in both 50 metre backstroke as well as the 50 metre freestyle.

Next, Womack turned his hand to the longer distance.

He beat off some strong competition in the 200 metre individual medley.

Womack fought his way to another well earned Silver medal and was unlucky not to come away with any golds after such a strong showing.

However, 11 year old Josie Johnson proved to be the squad's only gold medal winner after a superb swim in the 200 metre backstroke.

She exploded off the wall and dominated the race from start to finish.

By the first length she was too far ahead for anybody to catch her and she held that position after the turn.

She held off every challenge with her high technical stroke pattern before increasing her pace and storming towards the finish.

In the 50 Backstroke sprint Josie again got into the medals, powering her way to a highly creditable bronze in a blanket finish.

Kendal's Amy Reay, 15, took the silver medal in the 50 metre sprint after a lung-bursting, neck and neck finish.

She gave a similar performance in the 100 metre event, again taking silver with another brilliant effort.

It was 14 year old Gregor Fletcher who took the squad's final medal.

Fletcher blasted his way to the 50 metre freestyle bronze with a highly comprehensive piece of sprinting that saw him beat more experienced opposition.
