HELM Hill's Mark Addison was winner of the Kirkby Moor Fell Race in a near record time.
The teaching assistant at Queen Katherine School, Kendal, covered the six miles and 1,600ft of ascent in 48-24 - 15 seconds adrift of the record set by John Atkinson in 1995. He was followed over the line by Black Combe's Harry Stainton (50-31) and Nigel Wood (52-07) of Coniston Fell Runners.
Ambleside's Annie Conway set a new ladies' mark when she posted 54-01 to finish seventh overall from a field of 80 finishers. She sliced more than three minutes of the previous record set by Black Combe's Anna Lupton in 2012. Lupton was second lady finishing 15th in 57-57.
