JOINT-leading try scorer and South African import Dini Noyo believes his Kendal teammates have all the right qualities to build on their season so far and go unbeaten in the second half of the campaign.

The 24-year-old winger, who hails from Cape Town, is enjoying his second spell at the club and has picked up nine tries in 11 appearances, including five in Kendal's demolition of Wigton in October.

"A lot has changed since I was last here," said Noyo, who is leading the way alongside skipper James Gough in the try-scoring charts. "The boys are proving themselves every week. There is still room for improvement but the ship is heading in the right direction.

"When I came here the first time I arrived in the middle of the season so everyone was nervous and I felt like the team depended on me a lot but now everyone is chipping in and it feels more like a team.

"If we keep working hard every time we step on the field and execute well I honestly don't see us losing any other games."

Meanwhile Kiwi centre Bob Mataia hopes to put injury woes behind him and insists the whole squad, including the development team, are on the up.

Both Mataia and Noyo spent time on the sidelines after being forced off with shoulder injuries in Kendal's win over Penrith in September and Mataia says it is testament to the club that the team carried on chalking up points without their overseas influence.

"It's been a bit up and down for me," said 25-year-old Mataia, from Auckland. "I came here trying to prove myself to the boys but got injured early on which didn't help. Since then it's personally been a bit downhill but it has shown that the team didn't really need us. It is showing through the second team as they are all stepping up because they know they are going to get a shot."

The Mint Bridge club sit in third place in North One West, just one point behind Kirkby Lonsdale.

And for Mataia, one of the highlights so far was winning the derby, and also the time spent in the bar afterwards.

"It was a tough match but afterwards they were the only team to stay at our club for over two hours," he said. "We all had a beer together and made some friends which was great."
