ULVERSTON Otters finished their year with a mighty flourish with swimmers shooting off to various parts of the country in an effort to get last minute qualifying times for 2015 competitions.

Amy Richardson took the trip to Liverpool’s Aquatic Centre and although she just missed out on the medals all her times at Back, Fly and Free ensured her a place in the North West’s Regional Competitions.

Joe Elwood and Victoria Hevey both took part in the South Wales Short Course Championships at Swansea with Elwood emerging as fastest qualifier in both Men's 50 and 100 Backstroke.

He then went on to perform brilliantly in the finals taking the gold medal in both events.

Hevey put in a time of 29.92 to reach the final of the Ladies 50 Backstroke and despite having to settle for 7th place lowered her previous mark to 29.80.

Two other girls, Alix Knagg and Rebecca Fell, took on the Manchester Aquatics Long Course Snowpen meet with Knagg, almost back to her best after illness, taking gold for 50 Back and Silver for 100 Back and 400 Free.

Fell also got into the mix with some fine intelligent swimming and picked up Silver medals for 100, 200 Fly and 200 Breaststroke.

Finally the Club’s team travelled to Blackpool to take on teams from Burnley, Blackpool, Pioneer, Cockermouth, Babington, Satellite, and Carnforth where in an exciting third round of the National Arena League they came fourth and ensured themselves of retaining their place in next year's Premiership.
