STUDENTS at Kendal College have a unique way of improving their ability on a squash court.

They are wearing GoPro cameras attached to their heads to record their squash matches in order to monitor their technique.

It comes as BTEC students have teamed-up with Kendal Squash Club to increase participation in the sport in Kendal.

Sports teacher Andrew Lord told the Gazette about how the use of modern technology will stand his students in good stead.

He said: "Using GoPro cameras in squash lessons allows our learners to film their performance, monitor their movement around the court and analyse the success of different shots during a competitive situation.

"In all of our practical lessons we look to integrate the use of technology to enhance learner experience and make them fit for industry."

But the students are not the only ones reaping the benefits of the hi-tech squash classes.

Kendal Squash Club is hoping to increase its membership by teaming up with the College.

Penny Hitchin, Chair of Kendal Squash Club, said: "We are delighted to welcome the Kendal College sports students to Kendal Squash Club and hope that they will enjoy our excellent facilities and enjoy playing this fantastic game.

"The club is very much part of the community and we welcome the opportunity to offer our facilities and coaches to the college, schools and youth groups.

"We are keen to encourage people to play and have a special new year offer on for new members joining in January 2015. We welcome beginners and experienced players alike."
