KENDAL'S swimmers opened their 2015 account with a brilliant effort at the first gala of the year.

They took a squad of 12 swimmers to Harrogate's two day Janus Grade Meet and came away with a massive haul of 25 medals between them.

The stand-out performer was 10 year old Alex Tallon who picked up a medal in all six of his events.

He began his haul in the 200metre backstroke where he led from the start.

Increasing his speed as the race progressed, he stormed out of his final turn and into a superb finish to claim the gold medal.

Tallon proceeded to then take another gold medal in the 200metre breaststroke where he proved too skilful for his opponents, leaving them in his wake.

barely pausing for breath, Tallon claimed silver in the 50metre and 200metre freestyle which was followed by bronze in the 200metre individual medley.

Other star performers were the brother and sister duo of Ollie and Lucy Sargeant.

Ollie put in a sensational swim in the 100metre butterfly, showing skill, power and a relentless desire to win.

He matched his opponents stroke for stroke before a burst at the end secured a terrific win.

Silver medals in the 50metre backstroke, 100metre freestyle and 200metre backstroke followed.

Lucy added to the family fortunes by producing an outstanding performance for 50metre backstroke but had to settle for a Silver medal.

Her sprinting prowess took her to bronze medals for the 50metre butterfly and 50metre breaststroke.

Scott Womack worked hard to get in amongst the medals and he put in some magnificent efforts against tough opposition.

He got off the mark with Silver for the 200metre and 400metre freestyle followed by a bronze for the 200metre individual medley.

A supreme piece of sprinting in the 50metre freestyle brought him a coveted gold medal in a blanket finish.

Further medals went to Emma Foster (Gold), Jake Bryant (Gold/Silver), Rebecca Rimmer – Evans (Gold/Bronze)Alex Agliolo (Silver) and Adam Stansfield (6th).
