A CHARLOTTE Russell hat-trick guided Ambleside Ladies to a confidence-boosting 10-0 win over Carlisle seconds.
The first ten minutes proved a turgid affair with both sides creating few chances. However, a solid strike from Robyn Barclay enabled Lauren Wade to time a perfect deflection into the back of the net.
After this goals were pouring in thick and fast. Bethan Cogger was able to sneak a rebound shot past the keeper’s feet with Russell creating space up front to gain another deflection.
The visitors came close a couple of times but Ambleside's strong defence was able to clear the back line from any danger, allowing Abbey Carrol to charge up the pitch and perform a perfect strike.
The game began to open up in the second half, with both sides committing more players forward to score goals as Ambleside ran out comfortable winners.
They next play top-of-the-table Ulverston on Saturday.
