WINDERMERE Golf club held a fundraising Am Am on Saturday, raising club funds to the value of more than £1,350 for the clubhouse’s lounge furniture, in addition to further donations for the County Air Ambulance Trust and The First Responders – chosen annual charities of the Club Captain, Clive Matthews and Lady Captain, Pam Tigg.

Despite the cold and soggy weather, 24 teams braved difficult conditions to participate in the event, organised by social chairperson, Babs Matthews.

First prize in the competition went to Phil Smith, Andrew Woodmancy, Richard Waple and Steve Carman, who won with 108 points, with prizes also awarded for the longest drives at the 17th - won by Margaret Lister and David Heighton - and the nearest the pin competition, won by Jason Lowis, Phil Smith, C Mear, Mike Duerden and Anthony Gerrard.

“The day was a great success and despite the unfavourable weather, we were very pleased that 24 teams started the competition and 24 teams finished,” said Club Captain, Clive Matthews.

“Everyone enjoyed the event and most importantly, we were able to raise not only club funds, but funds for two extremely worthy charitable organisations. "I should like to thank the sponsors, the members, the players and all those who helped out on the day, for their tremendous support.”
