THE wrestling Brocklebank brothers travelled in force to the Alston Gala but it was Graham who emerged as a double champion.

Graham, along with brothers Thomas and Ben took part in the annual event where the 15 stone was up for competition.

Graham got off to a good start by winning the 13 stone class when he defeated John Harrington in the final.

In the 15 stones event, he met last year's champion Ryan Dolan from Carnoustie in Scotland.

Dolan is very tall and a very good hyper but in the first fall Brocklebank took the hold and won with right side buttock.

He then went on to take the second with cross buttock.

In the final, he was up against Jack Hale from Rothbury in Northumberland whose favourite chip is the swinging hype. Not surprisingly in the first fall Hale came in very quickly with the swinging which won him the fall.

In the second fall, it started exactly the same but this time Brocklebank was ready and as Hale began the swing, the Warton wrestler jumped ahead and was able to “ride” the hype, land on his feet and win the fall with a twist.

The deciding fall went exactly the same as the second one which means Brocklebank is now a double champion.

At the Cumberland show earlier in June, Graham retained 14 stone championship which he won at Gilsland show last year.
