INGLETON'S Harley Rushton collected a handful of podium finishes and a stunning win at the southern round of the classic Racing Championships at Lydden Hill, Canterbury.

After the 20-year-old race bikes had just returned from the Isle of Man after been raced by someone else, Rushton's team had just two days to change an engine and prepare the bike before an eight hour drive to Wootton.

Rushton was over the moon when in his first race on the 350 around the circuit he was third place behind course regulars - despite never riding on the course before.

This was made even better when in his second race he was second place in the 500.

Rushton got two more third places on Saturday, one on each bike, to give him a day full of podiums on his first race day

Race One on Sunday morning was on the 350 and Rushton was running strong up at the front challenging for the lead when a crash brought the red flag out causing the race to be stopped early and a result called.

An electrical issue meant the 500 Norton failed to make it out in its first race of the day so it was on to the final 350 race of the weekend.

Rushton made a good start and muscled his way into the lead on lap two where he put in some fast laps to pull a gap over his rivals and storm to victory. Rushton said: "It was mission accomplished this weekend on a circuit I didn't know, I was trying to limit the damage to my 350 championship lead this weekend by collecting as many points as possible on a circuit I've never been to before. The win at the end of the weekend just topped it off, proving I had got up to speed and had the advantage over my championship rivals."

The final race of the year is at Snetterton on the weekend of October 3 and 4.
