KENDAL swimming squad had a highly successful day when they took part in the local Presidents Gala in Workington as Taylor Aplin secured two butterfly titles.

Aplin showed great technique to take the 100 and 200m fly golds and she followed those victories up with a silver in the individual medley and a bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Lucy Sargeant, 10, was another who had an outstanding day as she won the 100m butterfly, took the silver in the 200m breastroke and freestyle and a bronze in the 100m individual medley.

Josie Johnson was unlucky as she found herself just outside the winners list but nevertheless her efforts still got her among the minor medals.

She took silvers in both the 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke and bronze medals in the 100m fly and 200m backstroke.

Sophie Gibson and Bethan Rowley also secured medals, Gibson snatching a siolver in the 200m backstroke and Rowley taking bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

Fine quality performances and personal bests also came from Fraser Fletcher, Alice Eastwood, Georgia Heath, Freya Capstick and Erin Bagge.
