Ibis Girls Under 14s lifted the Barrow and District Cup after they defeated Barrow Celtic 2-1, in a pulsating final that was played at Barrow Football Clubs Holker Street Ground.

The Under 14s victory meant that they completed a league and cup double and remained undefeated all season.

Ibis, who are sponsored by Smart Cleaning, were the first team in Kendal to compete in The Barrow and District Girls League

The final itself was highly competitive, as both Ibis and Celtic could not be separated in a tense first half.

However, at the start of the second half, Barrow Celtic went 1-0 in front while Ibis were indebted to Chloe Richardson, who pulled off some key saves.

The goalkeeping and defensive effort from Ibis paid off with ten minutes to go, when Holly Miles delivered a ball across the box for Ella Litzke, who volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

Ibis grabbed the dramatic winner with just one minute left on the clock as Ella Litszke crossed the ball from the left for Holly Miles, who finished past the 'keeper.

Ibis Girls' manager Andy Miles was delighted with the success: “I am really proud of everyone that has given their time to help the girls do the double," he said. "I am also proud of such a fantastic group of players, who have had a fantastic and memorable season.”
