IT WAS a weekend to forget for Netherfield captain Ben Barrow as his side were comprehensively beaten in the league before a promising-looking cup tie was abandoned half way through.

Netherfield lost to Barrow by eight wickets at Parkside Road as they struggled to 161 all out before the opposition reached 164 in 38 overs.

"It just wasn't good enough," declared Barrow. "With the bat we just didn't give the bowlers much a chance on what was a good wicket, we were probably 60 runs short and there were a few individual errors."

Barrow was however full of praise for 17-year-old James Park-Johnson who hit 57 runs to show up a few of the senior performers.

"He looks a good player. He had a pretty good weekend, he bowls well and it's good to have him available. He has a lot of strengths one of which being his patience which is great for a young player. He's really good to watch."

Park-Johnson also hit a half century in Sunday's cup game against Chorley as he was handed the chance to open the innings.

But after the Field had posted 211-6 from their overs, the weather took a turn for the worse to put an end to the day's play.

Barrow added: "I thought our spinners in the second innings would've been hard to score against and they would have needed five an over, but there's nothing you can do about the weather."
