Holme A and Victoria A picked up comfortable wins as they continued their dominance at the top of Division One of the Kendal and District Bowling League.

Holme A, who are keen to defend their title, remained on top after they defeated Netherfield B 9-1. However, Victoria A piled on the pressure after a 10-0 whitewash at Netherfield C on Thursday night.

In the other games Netherfield A defeated Holme B 9-1, Levens A won 8-2 at Windermere A, while both Burneside A and King's Arms Hales A battled to narrow 6-4 wins over Lindale A and Bowness A respectively.

It remained tight at the top in Division Two after league leaders Burton and second-placed Staveley tasted defeat.

Burton, who had been on a good run of form, were stunned at Subscription as they fell to an 8-2 loss, while Staveley lost 7-3 at Victoria A.

Crosthwaite A were the only side out of the top three to win as they defeated Kirkby Lonsdale A 9-1, while Milnthorpe A and Allithwaite A battled out a 5-5 draw.

In the other games both Lower Holker A and Levens B picked up crucial results, after wins over Abbot Hall A and Ambleside A.

Arnside A, Ingleborough A, Burton B, Windermere B, Endmoor A and Heversham A all won their games in Division Three.

In Division Four Levens C remained five points clear at the top after a comfortable 7-3 win over Netherfield D.

Windermere C continued their pursuit on the leaders after they saw off Subscription C 8-2, while there were also wins for Langdale, Bowness B, Burneside B and Allithwaite B.

Allithwaite C closed in at the top of Division Five after they defeated league leaders Milnthorpe B 7-3.

Lindale D remained second in the table after a narrow 6-4 win over Staveley B; Lindale C and Burneside C battled out a 5-5 draw, while there were also wins for Endmoor B, Kirkby Lonsdale B and Ingleborough B

Abbot Hall B routed Bowness C 10-0 in Division Six. Subscription C also won by the same score after they defeated Endmoor C.

Heversham C and Subscription D drew 5-5, Holme D won 8-2 at Burneside D, while both Milnthorpe C and Victoria C both won 8-2 with wins over Allithwaite D and Staveley C.
