Ambleside Hockey Club opened their season with a successful Hockeyfest event, encouraging new players to join following the gold medal success of Great Britain at this summer’s Olympics.

HockeyFest is a national campaign organised by the sport's national governing body, Great Britain Hockey, and has seen great numbers across the country picking up their sticks as the sport enjoys the effects of GB’s victory in Rio.

Players took on a variety of mini-games, including the ‘Olympic Ring’ challenge to test out their shooting skills, and facing Ambleside’s keeper in a penalty shootout.

There was also a range of tasty baked treats on offer, raising £75.39 in total, with proceeds from the sale going towards Rosemere Cancer Foundation, supporting its work with cancer patients across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Ambleside welcomes players of all ages and experience. Visit www.amblesidehockey.co.uk for details of what the club has to offer.
