NETBALL and hockey teams at Sedbergh School have been highly praised following a dominant term of competition.

The girls have dominated all age group tournaments for Cumbria across both sports since the start of the academic year.

Sedbergh School girls now hold the title of county champions in all age groups, for the second year running. A Sedbergh Prep team of hockey players also won at county level in their age group.

Head of girls' sport at the school, Lucia Sdao, said: “What this shows is how far the girls’ sport at Sedbergh has come. We put this down to a change of attitude with the girls in the last five years: they believe they can win, they work hard, train hard, support each other and learn from their losses – we currently have a brilliant bunch of girls who really look after each other, who support their coaches and who will leave everything on the field of play. Competition for places is strong which drives the motivation to perform at their best level.”
