MARTIAL artists from three Cumbrian clubs took part in a grass roots Olympic style competition at the weekend.
Cumbria Taekwondo took 18 players from three clubs, Kendal, Dallam and Ulverston to Warcop Village Hall, for the one to one competition, which was hosted by Koryo Taekwondo clubs.
It proved to be a great day out for all players, parents, supporters and coaches, led by senior instructor Kevin Thompson
Also attending was Master Phil James 7th Dan and Cumbria Taekwondo President.
After some outstanding performances and close matches Cumbria achieved13 golds, and won overall first in the individual club competition.
International referees were in charge of officiating with three Cumbria members assisting.
A presentation of a special embroidered black belt was awarded to Master Phil James in recognition of over 40 years of friendship within Taekwondo between the two clubs by Master Tom Stammer of Koryo Eden Taekwondo.
Cumbria Taekwondo hope to host a similar event in Kendal later in the year.
