SCORES of vintage sports cars will wind their way through some of Lake District's most dramatic scenery next weekend in what is being billed as an "exhilarating motoring extravaganza".
More than 100 cars from the 1920s and 1930s are expected to take part in the rally on Saturday, November 11, which will feature the Lakeland Trials hill climb.
The cars will gather at the foot of Honister Pass in the Borrowdale Valley before powering up the steep quarry road that leads up the side of Fleetwith Pike.
Among the thoroughbred racing cars taking part will be a 1920s Bugatti Type 23, a 1927 Austin 7 and a 1930s Chrysler 66 Sports.
Honister is the only location on the annual rally’s route that allows spectators on to the climb, making it the best viewpoint combining the most challenging circuit in the day-long trial set against the most dramatic backdrop.
The four-stage event is organised by the Vintage Sports Car Club and takes in spectacular scenery around Buttermere, Keswick and Whinlatter.
