KENDAL Squash Club's A Team lost 3-1 to Appleby on Tuesday Night.

Appleby, who remained on top of the league, continued their undefeated start to the season in a relatively comfortable night for the visitors.

Appleby’s number one John Bowman defeated Kendal’s Graeme Braithwaite in three straight sets. Bowman made light work of Braithwaite as he closed the first set out 15/8.

However, Braithwaite battled back in the second set before Bowman edged home 16/14. With Braithwaite deflated and Bowman in confident form, the number one seed closed the game out winning 15/6.

In the second game Martyn Awde was in a titanic battle against Andy Chant, however Awde edged home in four sets.

Kendal’s woes continued in the third game, after Dick Furniss defeated Kendal Archer in three sets. However Kendal’s best result of the night came from Ian Garnett who defeated Jeff Broadhurst in four sets.

Garnett was two sets up before Broadhurst pulled off a dramatic come back. However with the game evenly poised Garnett upped his performance before winning the decisive set 15/10.
