Hat tricks by Donna Robinson and Maddie Townson guided Ambleside to a comprehensive 6-1 victory against a resilient Kirkby Stephen Seconds at the Cinder Ovens playing surface in Kendal.

Ambleside fell behind in the first half when the visitors scored on the counter attack, however Donna Robinson’s goal three minutes later saw both sides all square at the break.

However the hosts upped the intensity during the second period before Robinson and Maddie Townson guided the Greens to victory.

Ambleside made a strong start and pressed the visitors back while good opportunities by Donna Robinson, Jess Young and Maddie Townson were all saved by the visiting keeper.

Kirkby Stephen opened the scoring after a quick break saw one of their players score past Caroline Cropper in the Ambleside goal.

Ambleside equalised three minutes later after a penalty corner was drilled into the net by Robinson. The goal saw Ambleside dominate the remainder of the first half as both sides were all square at half time.

However Ambleside upped the intensity during the second half and were soon 2-1 in front after a powerful strike by Robinson fell into the net, before Robinson completed her hat trick five minutes later from the hosts were 3-1 up.

From that point Maddie Townson stepped up and scored a quick fire hat trick as Ambleside raced into a 6-1 lead.

Townson’s first of the three goals came from a good attacking move by the hosts, while the second and third goals were clinically finished into the net.

Ambleside continued to press, before the hosts saw the game out in emphatic fashion.
