Walking Rugby is taking off in Kendal after a large number of people attended the four week trial sessions that were held at Kendal Rugby Club last Wednesday.
The trial, which has proved to be a big success, will now be offered as a weekly opportunity every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm-3pm.
Age UK South Lakeland, Kendal Rugby Club and The Rugby Football Union partnered up to off this new variation of rugby.
The initiative allows older people to keep fit and healthy, as well being an opportunity to reduce social isolation with the use of the rugby club's facilities in the lounge bar after each sessions.
Walking Rugby is a simplified version of the game and is suitable for all abilities and genders, for ex-rugby players and those interested in rugby who do not have any experience.
