Kendal Wasps 17-0 Sefton Ladies
KENDAL Wasps maintained their unbeaten start to the season in a comfortable win over Sefton at Mint Bridge.
The home side started the game strongly and took play into the Sefton half. After a spell of pressure Nessa Temple made the break and offloaded to Abby Bland who ran in under the posts. Bland added the conversion for an early lead.
The game was a very tight battle with defences strong on both sides. The strong running Sefton backs and their lively scrum half constantly kept the Wasps on their toes but they withstood the pressure and extended their lead through a trademark Temple break.
Temple beat three defenders on the way to the line scoring her 15th try of the season.
Just before the break turnover ball was secured and the ball spread wide for Hayley Hodgson to break the line and beat the cover defence for an excellent try bringing the half time score to 17-0.
The visitors plans to disrupt the Wasps game were a cause of frustration and the game threatened to boil over on a couple of occasions.
Despite this, the Wasps remained in control and despite not adding to their score they never looked like being broken in defence.
Hayley Dixon was forward of the match and Hayley Hodgson was back of the match.
The Wasps next fixture is away to Southport on Sunday.
