Barbarians watch Welsh close on Six Nations Grand Slam

WESTMORLAND Barbarians descended on South Wales for a mini tour as they took a break from local action.

A squad of 19 attended the Wales v Italy Six Nations game at the Millennium Stadium as Wales kept their hopes of a Grand Slam on course.

After the game they went for a nights’ entertainment in Porthcawl before facing local side Ken Fig Hill on Sunday morning.

A depleted side through injury went down 51-14 but the game was played in a great spirit. The team experienced wonderful Welsh hospitality and conducted themselves in a first class manner.

The Barbarians play Northern in their next league fixture at Windermere RUFC on Sunday, from 12.30pm.

* Windermere remain in a relegation dogfight after losing 33-0 to fellow strugglers Burnley at the weekend.

Mere are one off the bottom with 31 points with a game in hand on Burnley who are three points better off. Both trail Bolton who beat fourth-placed Hutton.
