NEIL Yates, winner of the first round of Windermere Anglers/ Kendal and District Anglers' Summer League, had an almost unbelievable catch when he landed a tench on pole-fished red maggot during a snowstorm.
THOSE who braved the
wintry weather, to venture out for the start of the new brown trout season on April 15 and fished hard, especially during the middle of the day when the temperature rose slightly, were well rewarded.
BOAT user Luke Robinson caught a superb 29lb 7oz pike at Esthwaite and another of 24lb and on the same trip Alex Barton landed one of 23lb and another of 17lb, all caught on lures.
