WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT THE LAKES?

Its compact beauty, the fact it’s ever-changing and the people - they are just so friendly. Two days are never the same when you’re looking at the landscape.

AND THE WORST?

I don’t have a worse thing. You could say the weather but you shouldn’t decide to live here if you can’t stand the rain.

FAVOURITE PLACE?

I’ve got two. Netherbeck at Wasdale because I remember swimming there as a boy and Kentmere because it’s so unspoilt.

FAVOURITE VIEW?

I love looking across the Lakes from Ill Bell on Kentmere. You can look right across the mountain range and marvel at its grandeur.

FAVOURITE SHOP?

Epicentre in Ambleside on Compston Road because they sell fantastic mountaineering gear including merino wool base layers. One of those and a raincoat and you’ll stay really warm.

FAVOURITE PLACE TO EAT?

We hardly ever go out to eat but The Gilpin Lodge would be high on the list. I will always remember having the most amazing souffle there.

Amazing, beautiful, inspirational, wonderful, home.
