Golfers tee up for new Casterton course

GOLFERS have been enjoying a new nine-hole course and driving range in Casterton today.
Emmerdale star Tom Lister, better known as Carl King in the soap, opened the new course, played by 60 members and dozens of members of the public.
"The course looks pristine and I think it's a fantastic idea," said the Ingleton actor.
"It is a brilliant acquisition for the area and I hope it gets the tourists in as well as the locals."
The idea was the brainchild of head greenkeeper Peter Makinson to get more people involved in golf, including juniors, older people, and top golfers wanting to work on their short game.
"It has been tough getting it ready with all the bad weather we've been having," said Mr Makinson, who designed the new course himself.
"But I'm very pleased with it and everybody has worked very hard making it happen."
A round on the new course costs £6 per person or £20 for a family of four, while the driving range is £2.50 to hit 50 balls and £4.50 for 100.
