Bowness grit drop-offs 'problematic' for residents
5:10pm Wednesday 28th December 2011 in Weather news
Bowness resident Stephen Bond contacted Gritwatch to highlight issues with grit drop-offs by Cumbria County Council.
He said salt piles were dropped off for residents to help themselves at one end of Lindeth Lane, which has 10 properties on it. But because the lane is three-quarters-of- a-mile long, it makes transporting it to spread along the pavements and road problematic.
A CCC spokesman said: “We work closely with parish councils because they tend to know where the grit is needed. We do encourage people to contact their parish councils in order to best co-ordinate the use of local grit.”
