UPDATE: severe weather causes disruption in South Lakeland

MOTORISTS have been warned by police to take care on roads following snow yesterday.

Kirkstone Pass remains closed today (Sunday) in both directions due to ice and snow between A591 Ambleside Road (Troutbeck Bridge) and B5320 (Watermillock).

Traffic around the rest of South Lakeland is moving mostly without disruption.

The Met Office’s weather warning for Cumbria has been downgraded from amber to yellow, advising people ‘to be aware'.

Just wondering what actually was treated in Holme roads today/last night.

And North Road is NOT on the schedule despite 60% more outgoing vehicles on a weekday ( survey - 1/2/2012) than on Milthorpe Road ( on schedule)

Petition from North Road residents and school staff being submitted to Cumbria CC Cabinet on Feb 9th ( 10:00). But, will they listen local concerns ?

Get some snow socks for your car tyres.

Search on ebay for a good price, and YouTube for videos of how to put them, on!

Don't rely on CCC helping you out - even when the gritters do grit, they often do so too soon or too late - or after the road is gridlocked with vehicles.
Worse still, the salt ends up on the verges and in the water courses.

What did we do before snow ploughs and gritters.......we managed! People should quit moaning and accept the weather! And yes, I live in a remote part of the county and no I dont rely on ccc!
